Our Approach

Many psychotherapists specialize in specific treatments to the point that they are not assessing for connections between various issues or looking for root problems.

At By Grace Counseling, we realize that issues such as excessive worry, anger, avoidance, passivity, disordered eating, and others have often arisen as coping strategies to manage overwhelming sadness, stress, loss, trauma, or early neglect. These coping strategies initially provided relief, but with time they lose their purpose and become problematic. These ingrained coping strategies can often be treated fairly quickly with an evidence-based treatment. Then, if necessary, treatment of the root cause can be integrated as well.

Good therapy starts with a good intake. During counseling sessions, you will be listened to carefully, intently and respectfully. You will be assisted with processing your challenges. You will be provided feedback and will be offered practical strategies that you can begin to use outside the therapy session to work toward healing and improved emotional health.

Good mental health is frequently dependent on ongoing appointments with a counselor or therapist. At By Grace Counseling, the goal is to work the therapist out of a job. The goal is that the client quickly gains the insight and healing needed to live a peace-filled life, and that they no longer need to attend therapy.

There is some information which if believed and acted upon will alter everything.
